Katya Zakharenko

As the Co-Treasurer of Building Trust Americas, Katya Zakharenko believes we are all connected and share a responsibility to each other and our planet. With a background in finance, banking and economics, she has seen that the best way to empower people is to support economic opportunity, community development and education.

Ms. Zakharenko has had a successful career in International Banking managing portfolios of relationships with financial institutions around the world. She is a graduate of San Francisco State University in Finance and Economics. She lives in Los Angeles. As a yoga instructor, Ms. Zakharenko´s practice is inspired by the Lokah mantra, which asks to devote the thoughts and actions of our lives to all beings being happy and free.

Ms. Zakharenko believes that everyone's life is made richer through service and volunteering. She has volunteered for many years with Habitat for Humanity International on homes, neighborhood development and housing advocacy in Soacha, Colombia. She has a passion for Colombia and continues to be inspired every day by the incredible people she meets.
