Theodora Stankova
Board Member
Theodora Stankova is a Board Member of Building Trust Americas. Ms. Stankova is a passionate program manager driven by the firm belief that a more socially and environmentally just world is possible. With a master’s degree in Citizenship and Human Rights and extensive experience in developing, managing, and evaluating social and volunteer projects, she works to generate effective solutions to important social issues taking a human-centered and shared-value approach.
Ms. Stankova developed a strong interest in volunteerism, social and development work early in her professional career and has been active in this sphere for more than 15 years, first in Bulgaria, her native country, and then in Colombia, where she lived and worked for nearly 10 years. She has worked in different roles with organizations like CVS-Bulgaria, Nukanti Foundation for Children, Habitat for Humanity Colombia, and For Our Children Foundation. As a philologist, she also has considerable experience in translation, content writing and editing in English, Spanish, Swedish, and Danish.
During her time with Habitat for Humanity Colombia, Ms. Stankova had the chance to organize volunteer builds to improve homes and public infrastructure in Ciudadela Sucre, an underprivileged community on the outskirts of Colombia’s capital Bogota. Over the years, she developed strong bonds with the community and the local and international volunteers, and today she is excited to continue this work through Building Trust Americas and their partners.
Currently based in Bulgaria, Ms. Stankova is responsible for partnership development and overall coordination of BTA’s work with partners in Colombia, with a strong focus on external communications and organizational development.
